Design Director/Merchandiser
Our client, a Juniors & Missy Sportswear company, is seeking a Design Director/Merchandiser to join their team in New York!
$130,000-$200,000 depending on experience
Full time in office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design team in creating seasonal collections that align with market trends, brand identity, and company objectives.
- Oversee the entire product development process, ensuring high-quality execution from concept to production while meeting budget and timeline goals.
- Develop product assortments and merchandising strategies that support sales goals and market positioning.
- Collaborate with sales teams to analyze customer feedback and sales data, adjusting designs and product offerings to optimize profitability.
- Maintain consistency in brand vision across all collections and product categories.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and retail partners to ensure efficient production and timely deliveries.
- Negotiate costs and lead times to improve profitability and streamline operations.
- Mentor and manage the design team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in fashion design and merchandising, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in women’s fashion design, trend forecasting, and product development.
- Extensive knowledge of fashion trends, fabrics, garment construction, and design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD).
- Proven ability to develop effective merchandising strategies that drive sales.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Passion for fashion and a deep understanding of modern consumer preferences.
