Assistant Designer

Our client, a fast growing, fun-loving childrenswear brand, is seeking an Assistant Designer to join their team in their NYC office!

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to seasonal collection development by assisting with trend research, inspiration boards, and design concepts
  • Create and update technical packages, digital sketches, and line presentations
  • Catalog and manage fabric swatches, trims, color palettes, and reference materials
  • Oversee sample tracking and maintain an organized archive of development samples
  • Coordinate with overseas suppliers to support sample execution and revisions
  • Participate in fit sessions and document feedback for product adjustments
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams in merchandising and production to uphold design accuracy throughout development
  • Maintain design documentation, seasonal overviews, and development tools
  • Support design team with market research, showroom prep, and shopping trips for inspiration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related discipline
  • 1–2+ years of hands-on experience in apparel design, including internships
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with PLM software is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational habits
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight timelines
  • Interest in children's or infant fashion and a good eye for color, print, and fabric
  • Positive attitude with solid communication skills and a collaborative mindset

$50k-$65k depending on experience, Hybrid schedule
