Associate Attorney
Our client, a successful litigation defense firm, is hiring for a motivated Associate Attorney! Responsibilities include handling a caseload from inception through trial involving substantial litigation defense and may include a variety of practice areas such as nursing home negligence, medical/dental malpractice and general liability.
The firm offers a dynamic work environment that provides substantial opportunities for professional development with mentorship and advancement within the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, prepare and handle pleadings, motions, orders and legal memoranda
- Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions
- Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency
- Conduct fact witness meetings
- Prepare and take depositions of parties
- Attend court conferences and orally argue motions
- Review client documents, draft case evaluations and status reports
- Assist with and participate in mediations
- Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues and staff
- Proactively work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills
- Knowledge of state court procedures
Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey (New York a plus)
- 2-6+ years of litigation defense experience
