Head Designer, Sport Handbags & Accessories

Our client, a junior & missy apparel brand, is seeking a head designer to develop and launch a new program for a newly acquired globally renowned handbag and accessories license.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design process for licensed handbags, hats, and scarves collections—from concept through production.
• Translate seasonal brand direction and market trends into compelling, brand-right accessory assortments.
• Present design concepts and final collections to both internal stakeholders and licensing partners.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the licensor’s creative and brand teams.
• Conduct trend research, market analysis, and competitive shopping to inform seasonal direction.
• Oversee a small team of accessory designers, providing creative direction, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, tech design, and production teams to ensure design integrity and execution.
• Manage calendars and workflow to meet design and development deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or related field.
• 7+ years of design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role focused on handbags, hats, or related accessories.
• Strong portfolio showcasing creative, brand-right accessory designs with commercial appeal.
• Previous experience designing within a licensed brand structure is highly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of accessory materials, construction, and manufacturing processes.
• Passion for contemporary and sport/streetwear-influenced fashion.
• Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to balance creativity with business needs.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.

Full time in office, 5 days a week.

$100k-130k depending on experience.
