Associate

Global private equity firm headquartered in Greenwich, CT is seeking an Associate, Management Company Accounting & Reporting. The Associate, Management Company Accounting & Reporting will support the Controllership function in the Americas, assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, preparation of journal entries, complex allocations, consolidation analysis and overall financial statement analysis. This position will also support the quarterly reviews and annual audit, as well as operational projects and overall financial close process improvements.

This is hybrid role – onsite Mon-Thu in Greenwich, CT; Fridays remote.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly and/or quarterly account reconciliations for a subset of the Americas balance sheet accounts. Investigate unreconciled balances and review with Americas Assistant Controller and Controller.
• Participate in the Americas close process on a monthly and/or quarterly basis. Develop a deep understanding of the financial statements and offer insights and analysis.
• Assist with monitoring, assessing, communicating and implementing changes in U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting and disclosure rules and regulations which may have an impact on the company's financial statements.
• Assure the overall completeness and accuracy of all required footnotes
• Prepare and record monthly journal entries to reflect the underlying activity of the entity on a timely basis, including entries associated with management fee revenue and offsets.  
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly tax filings and review any exceptions with the Americas Assistant Controller
• Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements and footnote disclosures, including preparation of certain supplemental reporting schedules for the Americas region to support the global financial close and financial reporting process.    
• Adhere to the firm’s internal control environment and documentation requirements. Challenge the existing control framework to help develop effective, efficient, and compliant processes.  
• Assist with other financial-related projects as necessary

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Accounting, CPA and/or MBA highly preferred
• 3-5+ years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting
• Public accounting experience, preferably Big Four
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• Experience navigating a large ERP environment
• Proficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
