Director, ESG

A leading alternative investment manager with $6B in AUM is seeking a Director, ESG to support their growing team. This person will lead ESG-related research, monitoring, and reporting for private credit investments—playing a key role in both pre-investment diligence and ongoing portfolio-level ESG strategy and compliance.

The ideal candidate is experienced in ESG frameworks and regulations, detail-oriented, and comfortable working cross-functionally with investment professionals, consultants, and external stakeholders. Spanish fluency is preferred, but not required.

Greenwich, CT or Miami, FL | Onsite 4 Days/Week

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Investment ESG Diligence

  • Lead ESG due diligence for potential borrowers alongside the investment team and Head of ESG.
  • Coordinate external consultants for diligence and remediation planning.
  • Contribute ESG analysis and recommendations to Investment Committee memos.
  • Track ESG checks across the investment pipeline to ensure timely execution.
  • Support SFDR checklist completion and Scope 1 & 2 emissions estimates.
  • Help assess eligibility of investments for Sustainable Investment classification (Good Governance Assessments, DNSH tests, etc.).

Ongoing ESG Monitoring & Reporting

  • Support periodic ESG reporting to LPs, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations.
  • Track borrower compliance with Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs).
  • Monitor borrower progress on net zero targets and emissions reduction.
  • Track firm and borrower compliance with SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, and NZAM guidelines.
  • Assist in calculating and maintaining portfolio-level emissions and decarbonization metrics.

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of ESG experience within financial services or private markets.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • IFC Performance Standards
    • SFDR & EU Taxonomy regulations
    • Net Zero frameworks & Climate Finance reporting
  • Familiarity with private credit transactions and sustainability metrics.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
  • Spanish language fluency a plus.
